Description/Analysis
Issue Detail: On February 2, 2021, City Council approved funding to the Sacramento Zoo and Fairytale Town in the City's Fiscal Year (FY) 2020/21 Midyear Budget (Resolution No. 2021-0029). The funding was allocated to support daily care, feed and forage, and veterinary services of the animals in their collections. The City will provide funding in a not to exceed amount of $1,129,000 for animal care services to the non-profit organization, Sacramento Zoological Society, which manages and operates the Sacramento Zoo.
Policy Considerations: The Sacramento City Code Section 4.04.020 and Council Rules of Procedure (Chapter 7, Section E.2.d) mandate that unless waived by a 2/3 vote of the City Council, all labor agreements and all agreements greater than $1,000,000 shall be made available to the public at least ten (10) days prior to council action. This contract was published for 10-day review on February 25, 2021 as required.
