Issue Detail: The skill sets offered by IATSE Local 50 (IATSE) complements our internal team's skill sets during high demand periods and for specific projects requiring additional staffing. IATSE has been a key provider of technical services, are trained in City theatrical equipment, and have been provided safety training. The City is unable to contract directly with IATSE because it would make the City the employer of record. In September 2025, the City of Sacramento, Department of Convention & Cultural Services conducted a competitive bidding process, bid no. B26171121003. The Talent Fund, LLC was the only responsive bidder to the solicitation. The SAFE Convention Center & Performing Arts District (District) requires the expertise of technical stagehands to intermittently augment City stagehand labor on an as-needed basis for the preparation and production of events...
