Description/Analysis
IssueDetail
Issue Detail: Like other City commissions and committees, the Sacramento Community Police Review Commission (Commission) maintains, as a standing item, a follow-up log to organize and track items that may be considered in the future. The follow-up log details each item, the relevant 2025 Work Plan issue, and gives an estimate of when staff expect to bring the item back to the Commission. Commission members are welcome to add items to the log during each meeting. The Follow-Up Log serves as an internal organizational and transparency tool to:
● Document Commission recommendations and formal actions;
● Track items forwarded to the Sacramento Police Department, City Manager, or City Council;
● Monitor responses and status updates; and
● Ensure continuity across calendar years.
The Commission meetings are staffed by the City Clerk’s office. As such, it is up to the Commissioners to prioritize the items that will guide the work for each year. As the Commission continues efforts to organize itself and identify the areas of concern that the Commission will address for the 2026 calendar year, the Chair will agendize a standing agenda item at the end of each meeting for Commissioners to request or make recommendations for topics of discussion for the following month’s meeting.
The proposed action includes:
1. Finalizing the 2025 Follow-Up Log to reflect the status of all tracked items through December 31, 2025; and
2. Establishing a 2026 Follow-Up Log to continue systematic tracking of Commission matters for the upcoming year.
Finalization of the 2025 log will formally close the tracking period for that year, while allowing items that remain active to be carried forward into the 2026 log as appropriate.
The Follow-Up Log does not create new authority or direct operational action. Any formal recommendations reflected in the log must be adopted by the full Commission at a public meeting and forwarded to the appropriate body consistent with established procedures.
