Description/Analysis
IssueDetail
Issue Detail: Due to continuing requirements to provide quality emergency medical services, the Sacramento Fire Department (SFD) is partnering with Sierra Joint Community College District (SJCCD) to provide quality training at a low cost to the Sacramento community. This training would be available to individuals that possess a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification. The program has drawn the interest of women and minorities, for which SFD has a hiring deficit. This opportunity would also be open to Sacramento Fire Department EMTs who want to upgrade to Paramedic.
The EMT-Paramedic program allows the Sacramento Fire Department to provide training and career opportunities to individuals with a desire to work in public safety.
