Description/Analysis
IssueDetail
Issue Detail: The City currently has an agreement with the County of Sacramento to support a Community Prosecutor Program. Under the existing agreement, approximately $2,700 is provided for vehicle expenses associated with the position.
The proposed amendment would expand the City’s financial support for the program to fund the salary and benefits of the Community Prosecutor position. Under the amended agreement, the City’s contribution will not exceed $272,055, inclusive of applicable vehicle expenses. This increased level of funding will provide the resources necessary to maintain the dedicated position and support the continued operation of the program.
The vehicle expense reimbursement authorized under the original agreement has already been paid by the City for the initial term, and no additional vehicle expense reimbursement will be provided for that period. The County of Sacramento will fund the first three months of the Community Prosecutor position. Beginning October 1, 2026, the City will assume responsibility for funding the position’s salary, benefits, and applicable vehicle expenses, up to the established not-to-exceed amount of $272,055.
The proposed amendment will also extend the agreement term through June 30, 2027. This extension will allow the Community Prosecutor Program to continue without interruption and ensure continuity of services throughout the remainder of the agreement term.
