IssueDetail
Issue Detail: The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), pursuant to section 14549.6 of the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act and subject to the availability of funds, annually pays a total of $15 million statewide to operators of curbside programs that accept all types of empty beverage containers for recycling. The payment is based on a statewide per-container rate and must be used for activities related to beverage container recycling.
As an operator of a curbside program that accepts all types of empty beverage containers for recycling since 1999, the City of Sacramento is eligible to receive the CalRecycle Curbside Supplemental Payment. In order to apply for and accept this payment, City Council approval is necessary.
