Issue Detail: The purpose of this item is to continue a discussion with members of the Sacramento Arts, Culture, and Creative Commission (ACCEC), which began at the April 13, 2026 ACCEC meeting. The Race and Cultural Equity Statement was adopted by ACCEC in June of 2020 and arose from the work of the previous Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and a special race and cultural equity task force which first convened in 2017. The statement focuses on three core areas of outreach and engagement, equity and access, and accountability.
This item is intended as an opportunity for Commissioners to discuss the current statement as well as potential modifications-including, but not limited to: streamlining language, adding clarification, and/or providing enhancements to the existing document.

Policy Considerations: Discussions around the Commission's commitment to advancing racial and cultural equity are aligned with Creative Edge: Sacramento's Arts, Culture and Creative Economy Plan (Creative Edge), which was adopted by Sacramento City Council on July 3, 2018, and which serves as the guiding policy framework for the Office of Arts and Culture.
