Issue Detail: The City of Sacramento is committed to fostering a safe and thriving community for all its residents and recognizes the importance of a multi-faceted approach to violence reduction.
The Office of Violence Prevention is integral to these efforts, and they work with community-based organizations to reduce community violence. Focused on community partnerships, this office administers gang prevention and intervention programs and strategies, such as the Gang Prevention & Intervention Task Force (GPIT) and the Evidence-Based Community Violence Interruption, Disruption, and Suppression (EBCVIDS) multi-year operating projects.
In addition, Youth Development Administration (YDA), formerly the Office of Youth Development, within the Department of Youth Parks and Community Enrichment provides funding to Community-Based Organizations to support a network of children- and youth-serving programs that align with the Youth Plan.
