Issue Detail: On February 16, 2021, the City Council approved the Vision Zero School Safety Study, an element of the City's Vision Zero Action Plan. The study is a collaborative, data-driven effort to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injury that focuses on improving safety and access to 20 schools throughout Sacramento. The recommendations in the report were determined after site visits to each school, consultation with school communities, technical analysis, and review. The study is designed to facilitate safer and more convenient opportunities to walk, bicycle, take transit and carpool to school.

The locally-funded Vision Zero School Safety Project - Phase 2 (T15255500) will implement the study's recommendations at 10 of the 20 schools. The 10 schools are as follows:

1. H Allen Heights Elementary School / Natomas Middle School
2. Garden Valley Elementary School
3. Northwood Elementary School
4. Mustard Seed School
5. Washington Elementary School
6. Miwok Middle School
7. Sacramento Charter High School
8. Bret Harte Elementary School
9. Capitol Collegiate Academy
10. Rio Cazadero High School / Las Flores High School
