IssueDetail
Issue Detail:
The 916 Day Volunteerism initiative emphasizes community engagement and park activation beyond traditional cleanup efforts. As part of this effort, the City's VIP Program is working with community members to launch the Park Sketchers Pilot Program, an art-based community activity that brings residents to lesser-known parks. Participants engage in sketching, learn about the park's features, connect with neighbors, and access City resources that support ongoing community involvement. The program strengthens community connections while increasing awareness and use of under visited public spaces.
Commissioners should be prepared to begin identifying year-round 916 Day events. This includes community partnerships, sponsorships, materials needed, marketing and promotion.
