Recommendation
Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution: 1) accepting $1,000,000 in federal grant funding provided through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for Johnston Community Center Improvements and authorize the City Manager or designee to increase the revenue and expenditure budgets in the Recreation Facility Improvement project (L19800200) for Johnston Community Center improvements, in the amount of $1,000,000 in the Capital Grant fund (Fund 3704); and 2) ratify the execution of the necessary grant agreement and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute any other necessary documents to accept these funds.

Issue Detail: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded $1,000,000 to the City of Sacramento in Community Project Funding (CPF) grant funds for Johnston Park through H.R.4366 (Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024) This allocation was made at the request of U.S. Representative Ami Bera. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is also the lead agency of these grant funds.

The primary purpose of this funding is for improvements at Johnston Park Community Center, which will include upgrading and renovating the community center to operate the Triple-R/Adult Day Care program.
