Recommendation
Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution: 1) approving the use of the Omnia Partners cooperative contract with Kone, Inc. (Contract No. EV2516) to enter into a stand-alone contract for the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium Elevator Modernization of the freight elevator in an amount not-to-exceed $380,000; 2) authorizing the City Manager or designee to transfer $179,954 from the 2018 TOT Revenue Tax Exempt Bond Fund (M17100100, Fund 6330) and $200,046 from the 2018 TOT Revenue Taxable Bond Fund (M17100100, Fund 6331) from the expenditure budget of the Convention Center Complex Renovation Project (M17100100) to the Memorial Auditorium Improvement Project (M17101000); and 3) authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute the contract specified above.

Issue Detail: The Sacramento Memorial Auditorium freight elevator was installed when the building was constructed in 1927. The elevator operates using a water hydraulic system, a technology that was largely phased out in the 1950s and replaced by oil hydraulic systems. General industry guidance recommends elevator modernization after approximately 20 to 25 years of service. At nearly 100 years old, the existing elevator has significantly exceeded its recommended service life.
