Summer Programs

The Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment Department will offer a variety of free and fee-based summer programs for youth, adults, and families citywide. Summer registration opens online and at community centers on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026 at 12:00 PM. Scholarship opportunities and financial assistance are available for many fee-based programs. Summer Oasis in Community Centers and Select Park Locations

The Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment (YPCE) department presents Summer Oasis for youth and teens ages 5-17 at community centers, clubhouses, and select parks throughout Sacramento. Summer Oasis offers the traditional summer camp experience with indoor and outdoor experiences.  Campers will enjoy a variety of engaging activities, from arts and crafts to active sports, games, and neighborhood trips, including swimming at participating locations. Meals are provided in partnership with the local school districts.

 

Summer Oasis camps are available for $55.00 to $115 per session, with varying prices depending on the camp location. Each session lasts 4 weeks, except for Summer Oasis William Land Park Session 2.

 

Families can participate in Summer Oasis at no cost through the Youth Program Scholarship Fund.

In 2025, community centers had 1, 596 youth and teen participant enrollments, with over 10,000 visits across 7 community centers and clubhouses. For summer 2026, community center and clubhouses expanded the program to include “Kinders” for 5-year olds.

 

4th “R” Summer Sites:

Select 4th “R” centers are open for summer care from 7am - 6pm Monday - Friday. 

This summer, we’re celebrating 40 amazing years of memories, friendships, and adventure! Our anniversary-themed program will honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future through exciting weekly activities inspired by each decade of 4th “R”. Participants will enjoy throwback games, classic crafts, music and trends from the past 40 years, and special legacy events that highlight program traditions.

From retro field day challenges to time-capsule projects and anniversary celebrations, each day will blend nostalgia with fresh new fun. Participants will build connections and create memories that will shape the next 40 years.

Aquatics Summer Programs

The YPCE department plans to offer a multitude of Aquatics programs throughout the City including Recreational Swimming, Lap Swimming, Swim Lessons, Aquacise, Lifeguard Certification Courses, and Special Events.

Rec Swim

Recreational swimming hours are planned for all 17 aquatic facilities throughout the City during the summer season and on the weekends in spring and fall at the regional North Natomas Aquatics Complex. Admission fees for neighborhood pools are $3 per youth and $5 per adult, and at the regional North Natomas Aquatics Complex admission fees are $7 per youth and $9 per adult. YPCE partners with Sacramento Public Libraries, Council Districts, and various community-based organizations to offer opportunities for discounted or free pool admission.

 

Swim Lessons and Other Aquatics Programming

Swim lessons are planned for all 12 neighborhood pools and NNAC for Summer 2026, with additional Spring and Fall programs at Clunie Pool and NNAC. Space is available for over 2,700 registrants. Sessions of six 30-minute swim lessons are $72.

In addition to swim lessons, the City offers junior lifeguarding, which provides youth ages 12-15 years old with a foundation in water rescue skills and helps participants prepare for enrollment in an American Red Cross Lifeguard course. Junior lifeguarding camps are planned at Clunie Pool, Johnston Pool, McClatchy Pool, Pannell Meadowview Pool, and NNAC, and will cost $79 per week. The City also plans to offer recreational summer swim teams at Clunie Pool, Glenn Hall Pool, Pannell Meadowview Pool, and NNAC. Throughout the summer, participants are offered the opportunity to compete in swim meets at Pannell Meadowview Pool and NNAC. Fees for swim team are $149 per summer.

Eligible applicants can register for Aquatics programming at no cost through YPCE’s Youth Program Scholarship Fund and the Adult Swim Safe Scholarship. 

The City’s Basic Water Safety program provides youth and adults, ages 3 years old and up, with three 30-minute no-cost classes that focus on age and ability-appropriate activities that teach important basic swimming and water safety concepts. The Basic Water Safety programming is currently planned at Cabrillo Pool, George Sim Pool, Johnston Pool, Mangan Pool, McClatchy Pool, and Oki Pool, with space for over 350 participants.

                     Jr. Giants

o                     Location: William Land Park Ballfields

o                     The Junior Giants program is a free, non-competitive, co-ed baseball/softball league for youth ages 5-18 that uses baseball as a platform to teach character development, education, health, and bullying prevention to underserved youth. Registration opens on April 1, 2026, and closes on May 20, 2026. Practices begin the week of June 9, 2026, with teams practicing once per week and continuing through August 1, 2026. Games begin the week of June 27, 2026, with all games played at Land Park. Registration link will be through gojrgiants.org (direct link will be provided).

                     Summer Skate Camps at the 28th and B Skate Park

o                     Hosted by YaSkate - Summer Skate Camp with YASKATE! - Age 7-14

§                     This is a brand-new session running from August 7th - August 9th, 2026.  Families will stay onsite for the duration of the session, which offers the same activities and program as a Family Camp Session, condensed into a conveniently shortened weekend format .  Registration opens on April 8th, 2026, at 12:00 pm (PST) through UltraCamp

 

o                     A Day at Camp! 2026

§                     This program takes place first on July 9, 2026 then again on July 23rd, 2026. Families registered for either of these dates will attend a modified Camp Sac program that runs from 11am - 2pm (PST) at the Camp Sacramento Facility located in Twin Bridges, CA. The program will include a variety of popular Camp Sac activities, lunch in the historic Dining Hall, and access to information about all Camp Sac programs.  Sacramento residents can attend these dates free of charge.  No transportation provided.
