Pass a Motion: 1) approving the plans and specifications for the Roosevelt Park Street Light Improvement Project; 2) awarding the construction contract to Pacific Excavation Inc. for an amount not to exceed $141,883 for the Roosevelt Park Street Light Improvement Project; and 3) authorizing the City Manager or the City Manager's designee to execute the contract specified above.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: This project will install 16 new ornamental street lights along the streets that surround Roosevelt Park. Roosevelt Park occupies one square block bounded by 9th, 10th, P, and Q Streets. Improvements have been funded by the Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA) to better serve park patrons, one of which is pedestrian-level street lighting.

Existing street lighting is limited to the four corners of the park, and a single mast arm light on 10th Street between P Street and Q Street. Five high-mast, high-intensity lights illuminate the baseball field at the northeast corner of the park.

Policy Considerations: The action requested herein is consistent with City Code Title 3 and the City's General Plan goals to improve and diversify the transportation system, enhance and preserve neighborhoods, and improve safety.

Economic Impacts: The recommended contract is expected to create 0.57 jobs (0.33 direct jobs and 0.24 job through indirect and induced activities) and create $87,603 in total economic output ($55,217 of direct out...
