Recommendation: Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager or designee to: 1) increase the revenue and expenditure budgets of the El Camino Avenue Vision Zero Safety Project (T15216400) by $1,062,000 (Federal Capital Grant, Fund 3703); and 2) increase the revenue and expenditure budgets of the El Camino Avenue Vision Zero Safety Project (T15216400) by $138,000 (New Measure A Specific Project, Fund 2023).

Issue Detail: El Camino Avenue, from Del Paso Boulevard to the Steelhead Creek trail crossing, was identified in the City's Vision Zero Action Plan as one of the top five corridors with the highest numbers of fatal and serious crashes involving pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicles in the City of Sacramento. El Camino Avenue was further studied in the Vision Zero Top Five Corridors Study which proposed safety countermeasure improvements that include pedestrian scale lighting, narrowing vehicular lanes, traffic signal improvements, and high visibility crosswalks.

The City of Sacramento successfully applied for a Community Design Program grant through the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to fund preliminary engineering and environmental clearance for the El Camino Avenue Vision Zero Safety Project (Project).
