Issue Detail: The City of Sacramento (City) owns and operates 12 water reservoirs throughout the City. These reservoirs help to maintain pressure throughout the City's water distribution system and provide emergency storage for fire protection. Three of these reservoirs, UCD Medical Center, Alhambra, and City College Reservoirs, are elevated reinforced concrete structures which house and support steel lined tanks. They were constructed between 1934 and 1938. City staff performed exterior surface inspections of the reservoirs in 2019, which was prompted by evidence of exterior concrete failures at UCD Medical Center Reservoir. Staff observed several locations of concrete delamination and spalling along the exterior surfaces of all three reservoirs. Due to the amount of spot repair locations identified during the first portion of work, only UCD Medical Center Reservoir repair work and inspections at Alhambra Reservoir were completed under the original contract amount.
