Pass a Motion: 1) approving the scope and specifications for the Lighting Energy Efficiency Upgrade Phase 2; 2) adding Green Energy Construction dba Green Energy Products to the list of approved vendors for all phases from the previous Motion No. 2018-0095; 3)awarding a construction contract to Green Energy Construction dba Green Energy Products, in an amount not to exceed $335,145; and 4) authorizing the City Manager or the City Manager's designee to execute the contract specified above.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The Phase 2 Lighting Energy Efficiency Upgrades consist of replacing the existing lighting sources with LED lamps and fixtures for all interior and exterior lighting at the identified City facilities. The proposed upgrades are calculated to save $61,181 annually for a 5.48-year simple payback period. The reduction in energy usage will also reduce the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by 282 metric tons per year.

Policy Considerations: The recommendation in this report is in accordance with the provisions of City Code Chapter 3.60.

Economic Impacts: The recommended contract is expected to create 1.3 jobs (0.8 direct job and 0.5 jobs through indirect and induced activities) and create $206,930 in total economic output ($130,430 of direct output and another $76,500 of output in indirect and induced activities).
