Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager or City Manager's designee to: 1) accept an additional funding of $33,000 in grant funding from the 2017 State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) with a not-to-exceed grant award total of $299,190 for the purchase of Regional Hazmat Equipment, Regional Personal Water Rescue Gear and Rescue Taskforce Equipment; 2) amend the established operating grant for the 2017 SHSGP grant, including the amendment of revenue and expenditure budgets; 3) accept all eligible grant expenditures related to the 2017 SHSGP grant; and 4) assure adherence to all grant regulations for FFY 2017 SHSGP (G12902700).

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The Fire Department is seeking approval to accept additional $33,000 in grant funding from the 2017 State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) in an amount up to $299,190 for the purchase of Rescue Taskforce equipment along with Regional Water Rescue and Hazmat Equipment. This is a Federal grant administered by the Sacramento County Office of Emergency Services that is passed through the State of California and the Sacramento Operational Area and is provided directly to public safety agencies within the County of Sacramento. The purpose of the grant is to support and build capabilities to protect against, prevent, respond to, and recover from terrorist acts and other types of emergencies or disasters.
