Issue Detail: The Sacramento Police Department (SPD) has been asked to provide an update to the Sacramento Police Commission on the status and implementation of the recommendations submitted by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) in its Phase I review of SPD’s use of force policy.
The oral presentation will provide an overview of the status of each recommendation. Specifically, the presentation will cover the following:
A. Implemented Recommendations;
B. Implementation of Recommendations in Progress; and
C. Recommendations Under Review.
Policy Considerations: The strategies presented are consistent with City Council’s commitment to fulfill the communities’ expectations for a safe environment. It is also consistent with City Council’s goal of transparency in public safety.
