Issue Detail: This presentation provides an update on the 2017 Audit of the City's Medical Marijuana Dispensaries and discusses potential next steps.

Policy Considerations: The City Auditor's update on the 2017 Audit of the City's Medical Marijuana Dispensaries is consistent with the Mayor and the City Council's intent to have an independent audit function for the City of Sacramento.

Economic Impacts: None.

Environmental Considerations: This action is not a project that is subject to CEQA because it is an administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines ?15378(b)(5).)

Rationale for Recommendation: This presentation provides the City Council with information that may be used to meet its responsibility to provide oversight and supervision of the City Auditor.

Financial Considerations: The cost of this presentation was funded out of the FY2019/20 Office of the City Auditor budget.

Background: In 2017, the Office of the City Auditor issued an Audit of the City's Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. The report contained three findings and made 20 recommendations aimed at strengthening the monitoring of medical marijuana dispensary business operation tax payments, improving compliance with City Code, and enhancing recordkeeping.
