Description/Analysis

 

Issue Detail: This audit was approved as part of the 2018-19 Audit Plan. According to the Council Rules of Procedure, the Budget and Audit Committee shall receive, review, and forward to the council as appropriate, reports, recommendations, and updates from the City Auditor. This report documents the Audit of Retiree Health Benefits.

 

Policy Considerations: The City Auditor’s presentation of the Audit of Retiree Health Benefits is consistent with the Mayor and the City Council’s intent to have an independent audit function for the City of Sacramento

 

Economic Impacts:  None.

 

Environmental Considerations: This action is not a project that is subject to California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) because it is an administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect physical changes in the environment. (CEQA Guidelines §15378(b)(5).)

 

Sustainability: None.

 

Commission/Committee Action: On December 3, 2019, the Budget and Audit Committee voted unanimously to accept the Audit of Retiree Health Benefits and to forward to the City Council for approval.

 

Rationale for Recommendation: This staff report provides the City Council with information that may be used to meet its responsibility to provide oversight and supervision of the City Auditor.

 

Financial Considerations: The cost of the Audit of Retiree Health Benefits was funded out of the FY2018/19 Office of the City Auditor Budget.
