Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager, or City Manager's designee, to: 1) accept $770,152 in Fiscal Year (FY) 2019/20 COPS program funding from the County of Sacramento; 2) establish an operating grant project (G11017900); 3) establish the necessary operating grant expense and revenue budgets in an amount up to $770,152 (Operating Grants, Fund 2702); and 4) adjust the necessary operating grant expense and revenue budgets in the FY2019/20 COPS Project (G11017900), based on actual disbursements received from the County of Sacramento Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA).

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: California Government Code Sections 30061-30063 establish a Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA) in each county treasury for the purpose of the Citizens' Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program and requires monies from this fund to be distributed amongst the cities within each county in accordance with the relative population of each incorporated city. The estimated Fiscal Year (FY) 2019/20 allocation for the City of Sacramento is $770,152.

Policy Considerations: The recommendations contained in this report are consistent with City Council Resolution 2019-0248 Section 11.1(1), which requires City Council approval to establish an operating grant and adjust budgets by $100,000 or more.

Economic Impact: None.
