Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: California Government Code Section 30029.05 establishes extended funding in the Enhancing Law Enforcement Activities Growth Special Account and thereafter in each county treasury for the purpose of the Citizens’ Option for Public Safety (COPS) Growth Program and requires monies from this fund to be distributed amongst the cities within each county in accordance with the relative population of each incorporated city. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2018/19 growth allocation for the City of Sacramento is $426,297.

Policy Considerations: The recommendations contained in this report are consistent with City Council Resolution 2019-0248, which requires City Council approval to establish an operating grant and adjust budgets of $100,000 or more.

Economic Impact: None.

Environmental Considerations: The proposed activity is not a project pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), CEQA Guidelines Section 15378(b)(5).
