Issue Detail: The Sacramento Police Department has been asked to provide an oral report to the City Council regarding protest activity.
The Sacramento Police Department endeavors to ensure that events remain safe for those who protest peacefully and remains prepared to address individuals and groups who intend to cause harm.
This presentation is intended to be informational and will include the following topics:
1. An overview of how the Sacramento Police Department responds to protests within the City;
2. An overview of certain events that have taken place within the City - specifically those that have occurred since the November elections;
3. A discussion regarding recent interference with City homeless-outreach and trash-removal personnel at clean-up sites; and
4. A discussion regarding the impact these matters have had on the community.
