Pass a Motion authorizing the City Manager or City Manager's designee to execute Contract Supplemental No. 7 to Contract 2012-1019 with Motorola Solutions, Inc. to provide City-Wide and mandatory upgrade and implementation services for the City's voice radios for $482,028 increasing the contract amount for a new not to exceed amount of $2,735,590.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The City of Sacramento along with a number of public safety and local government partner agencies utilize the Sacramento County's Sacramento Regional Radio Communication System (the "System") for emergency and critical radio communication needs. The entire System is in the process of upgrading all the local government and first responder radios from the existing analog system to a digital protocol, P25. As part of the System transition from analog to digital, each radio that utilizes the System must be reprogrammed or upgraded with the necessary software to enable radio operations on the new infrastructure. This contract extension with the City's current radio maintenance vendor, Motorola, will provide service continuity and support during the transition.

Policy Considerations: The requested action is in conformance with City Code Chapter 3.64, Contracts for Professional Services, and in accordance with the goals, objectives, initiatives and operating principles of the City's Digital Strategy.
