Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: Staff recommends Council approve an agreement with West Yost Associates to update the City's Water Master Plan. The objective includes updating forecasts for domestic water demand in alignment with the latest General Plan and to identify the infrastructure necessary to continue providing reliable water service to City customers.

Approximately every five years, DOU updates its Water Master Plan with the fundamental purpose of forecasting water demands and revising its water infrastructure capital plan to align with the General Plan and any new changing policies or preferred practices of the water utility. The last two water master plans were completed in 2005 and 2013.

This effort is listed under the departments General Plan Implementation Measure #5 and addresses policy number: U?2.1.5

The period of study includes present day conditions, out to the current 2035 General Plan, as well as other areas of potential growth or annexation interest through the year 2050, as envisioned by City staff and/or Sacramento Area Council of Governments.
