Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution: 1) authorizing the City's donation of surplus lighting arrestors, communication switching panels, and 31 fire cabinets from the Winn Park Building to the Pioneer Mutual Hook and Ladder Society; and 2) authorizing the City Manager or the City Manager's designee to execute the attached Memorandum of Understanding with Pioneer Mutual Hook and Ladder Society for donation of the lighting arrestors, communication switching panels, and 31 fire cabinets.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The City's historic Winn Park Building located at 1616 28th Street was previously used as a Fire Alarm Dispatch and is currently vacant. The lighting arrestors, communication switching panels, and fire dispatch cabinets within the building are no longer utilized, and the proposed future use of the building requires their removal. The above-mentioned personal property has thus been deemed surplus property by City staff. Staff checked with other City departments to see if there was a need for the cabinets but found no interest. The Pioneer Mutual Hook and Ladder Society (PMHLS), which is developing a Fire History Museum in West Sacramento, has a need for the cabinets which have historical significance and can be used to showcase the history of Sacramento firefighters. Staff recommends the cabinets be donated to the PMHLS.
