Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires all public agencies to perform a Self-Evaluation and develop an ADA Transition Plan for the installation of improvements necessary to achieve programmatic accessibility for persons with disabilities. This project will update the previously prepared Self-Evaluation of accessibility within the public right of way and provide an update to the City of Sacramento ADA Transition Plan for the public right of way. These actions are being taken in response to direction received from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

City staff recommends the award of a Professional Services Agreement to complete the self-evaluation and update the ADA Transition Plan for the public right of way.

Policy Considerations: Implementation of the ADA accessibility programs and improvements is consistent with the City's General Plan goals of providing an obstacle free and continuous pedestrian network in existing and new neighborhoods so that they are safe and universally accessible.
