Adopt a Resolution: 1) approving the construction plans and specification for the Temple Avenue Park Playground project (L19261000); 2) awarding the contract for the project to Saenz Landscape Construction Company in the amount of $169,630; 3) authorizing the City Manager or City Manager's designee to execute the contract, and 4) approving the transfer of $50,000 from the Park Development Impact Fees (Fund 3204) available fund balance to the Temple Avenue Park Playground project (L19261000).

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) is seeking approval to award a contract to Saenz Landscape Construction Company for the Temple Avenue Park Playground project. Saenz Landscape Construction Company was the low bidder for a contract amount of $169,630.

The work will include demolition, grading, concrete flatwork and replacement of the playground structure. Construction is expected to be completed by end of January 2020.

Temple Avenue Park is a 1.05-acre neighborhood park located at 3901 34th Street in Council District 5.

Policy Considerations: City Code Chapter 3.60 provides that the City Council approval is required to enter into construction agreements over $100,000.

Providing parks and recreation facilities is consistent with the City's strategic plan to enhance livability in Sacramento's neighborhoods by expanding park, recreation, and trail facilities throughout the City.
