Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager, or City Manager's designee, to: 1) accept $426,297 in Fiscal Year (FY) 2018/19 COPS Growth program funding from the County of Sacramento; 2) establish an operating grant project (G11018000); 3) establish the necessary revenue and expense budgets in an amount up to $426,297 in the FY2018/19 COPS Growth operating grant project (G11018000); and 4) adjust the necessary expense and revenue budgets in G11018000, based on actual disbursements received from the County of Sacramento Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA).

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: California Government Code Section 30029.05 establishes extended funding in the Enhancing Law Enforcement Activities Growth Special Account and thereafter in each county treasury for the purpose of the Citizens' Option for Public Safety (COPS) Growth Program and requires monies from this fund to be distributed amongst the cities within each county in accordance with the relative population of each incorporated city. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2018/19 growth allocation for the City of Sacramento is $426,297.

Policy Considerations: The recommendations contained in this report are consistent with City Council Resolution 2019-0248, which requires City Council approval to establish an operating grant and adjust budgets of $100,000 or more.

Economic Impact: None.
