Pass a Motion: 1) approving the construction plans and specifications for the Sacramento Northern Parkway and Bike Trail Enhancements Project (L19001200); 2) awarding the contract to WABO Landscape & Construction, Inc. for the Sacramento Northern Parkway and Bike Trail Enhancements Project in the amount of $1,612,535; 3) authorizing the City Manager or City Manager's designee to execute the contract; and 4) authorizing the removal of eight trees within the Sacramento Northern Parkway which are dead as part of the Project.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: The Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE) is seeking approval to award a contract to WABO Landscape and Construction, Inc. for the Sacramento Northern Parkway and Bike Trail Enhancements Project.
The Sacramento Northern Parkway and Bike Trail Enhancements Project (L19001200) consists of renovating the existing parkway landscaping and turf reduction through a State of California Natural Resources Agency grant. The project was originally publicly bid and only one bid was received. This bid came in substantially higher than the engineer's estimate. Because there was only one bidder, staff negotiated with the bidder to reduce the scope of work so that the construction contract price was within the project budget and the grant scope.
