Description/Analysis
Issue Detail: The terms for incumbents in the office of the Mayor and City Council Districts 2, 4, 6, and 8 are scheduled to expire in December 2020. On November 5, 2019, and pursuant to established election procedures, the City Council adopted resolutions that called for a March municipal election to fill these expiring terms. The Council also adopted resolutions that consolidated the elections with the statewide primary and general elections and requested authorization from the Board of Supervisors to allow the County Registrar of Voters to provide needed election services. On November 19, 2019, and pursuant to established election procedures, the City Council adopted a resolution that called for the voting upon of the measure titled Sacramento Children's Fund Act of 2020.
The election has occurred, the Sacramento County Registrar of Voters has certified the results, and the City Clerk has received the official Certificate of Facts. As contained in the certification, the number of votes received by a single candidate in the office of the Mayor and City Council Districts 4 and 6 were sufficient to declare them elected.
Adopting the resolution accepting the election results is the final action that completes the March 3, 2020 election process.
