Recommendation
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee to: 1) increase the revenue and expense budgets in Fund 2702 of the Gang Violence Suppression operating grant project (G11017600) by $403,660 per fiscal year until Fiscal Year 2024/25, for a total not-to-exceed amount of $2,018,300; 2) increase the expense budget in Fund 2703 of the operating grant project to record partner match contributions in the amount of $22,000 each fiscal year, for a total not-to-exceed amount of $110,000; and 3) maintain one Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Police Officer position, previously maintained by Resolution 2019-0266.

Description/Analysis

Issue Detail: As specified in California Penal Code (PC) Sections ?13821 and 13826 - 13826.7 PC, the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) receives annual allocations to manage a Gang Violence Suppression (GVS) program. As permitted by Section 13826.4, the SPD proposes to use these funds to maintain one full-time equivalent Police Officer position and to partner with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office (DA), and the Sacramento County Probation Department (Probation), and community-based organizations who specialize in gang intervention and prevention. These partnerships will support diversion, outreach, and counseling efforts and provide gang awareness training to various Sacramento communities.
